How long does it take for SmartHostUSA to process my application and set up my account?
If all of your contact and billing information is in order, it should only take from 1 to 12 hours to set up your account.  You will receive a "Welcome" e-mail once your account is set up.


Who do I contact in case of a billing problem?
In the event of a billing problem or to cancel your account, please e-mail our Billing Department.  If you have selected monthly hosting subscription billing rather than annual, you may cancel your monthly subscription directly through PayPal.


What control panel is offered with your hosting packages?
All sites come equipped with CPANEL 9.


How do I access my CPanel website control panel?
Navigate to http://www.yoursite.com/cpanel and replace "yoursite.com" with your domain name.


Can I select my own user account name?
For security purposes your main account user name is automatically generated and cannot be changed.
 

I have been notified that my account has been set up but my site is still not active.
If it has been over 48 hours, it probably means either that your domain name is not pointed to the right servers or that your ISP's DNS server has not yet been updated. It generally takes 24 hours for domain names to become active and recognized throughout the Internet. First, please make sure your domain has been pointed to our servers NS1.SmartHostUSA.NET and NS2.SmartHostUSA.NET.  If your domain has been pointed properly and 48 hours has passed please contact our technical support department.


I have NOT been notified that my account has been set up and its been over 24 hours.
Something is not working properly.  The #1 cause of problems is an error in the contact email address provided to us.  The #2 cause of problems is spam filtering which incorrectly identified our email to you as spam.  If you have not received any e-mails from us within a few hours of placing your order please double check the email address you provided, check your spam file to make sure our e-mail was not filtered as spam and then contact us again.

What DNS should my domain name point to?
Your welcome e-mail will detail which of our DNS servers you should point your domain name to and how to point your domain name. The default is

  • NS1.SmartHostUSA.NET

  • NS2.SmartHostUSA.NET

Does e-mail and FTP count against my monthly bandwidth?
Yes. All FTP and incoming/outgoing e-mail transfer counts against your total bandwidth.


Do you support MySQL?
Yes. We run MySQL server version
4.0.22


How can I edit a MySQL database table without creating an application?
CPanel allows you to use phpMyAdmin to edit MySQL tables through the use of SQL query language.


Do you support CGI/Perl scripts?
Yes, every site comes with its own CGI-BIN to allow you to run your own perl scripts.


What path name should I use for CGI/PERL scripts?
You may use either #!/usr/bin/perl  -or-  #!/usr/local/bin/perl

Both will work!


Will you place any ads on my site?
SmartHostUSA does not place any advertisement on your website whatsoever. No banners, no annoying pop-ups, nothing.  You may place as many ads on your website as you want.


Will I be able to send and receive e-mail?
Yes! You will be able to send and receive e-mail through our servers.
